South Africa | Peace and Nonviolence Chief Director for the Department of Higher Education and Training, South Africa "Kirti worked for the Council on Higher Education since 1999, primarily in the Accreditation Directorate. In 2006, she was appointed as Director: National Reviews in the Higher Education Quality Committee of the Council on Higher Education and between 2007 and 2008 was Acting Director: Accreditation. Between 2005 and 2008 she worked on the National Review of Teacher Education focusing on the M Ed, B Ed, PGCE and ACE programmes. Work in the area of teacher education has translated into several conference papers focusing on preliminary insights emerging from the review process. In 2002-2004 she managed the review of the MBA programmes and is a co-author of ‘The State of the Provision of the MBA in South Africa.’ Ms Menon has a BA degree in English Literature, a Diploma in Journalism, Honours degrees in Literature and Applied Linguistics, and an MBA. She is currently registered for her Ph D at the University of the Witwatersrand. In terms of publishing, Ms Menon has two co-authored published reports for the Council on Higher Education (2000 and 2004), two chapters in books on education published (1999 and 2003), a co-authored chapter on ‘Financing of Higher Education Institutions in South Africa: A Case Study of the University of the North’, with two further chapters published in 2007 as well as several policy documents and journal articles. She is the Chairperson of the Gandhi Centenary Committee in Johannesburg".
