Middle East base team at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem

On October 3 the World March Middle East team, alongside members of Israeli antinuclear organisations, staged a demonstration in support of world nuclear disarmament, peace and nonviolence at the Wailing Wall, in front of the Mosques of Omar and al-Aqsa, before protesting outside the Holy Sepulchre. Their placards proclaimed “Praying for world peace”. and “Praying for a nuclear-free world”.

Giorgio Schultze, the European spokesperson for the Humanist Movement, said, “in front of the sacred shrines of the world’s monotheistic religions, the Wailing Wall and Holy Sepulchre, and outside the Mosques of Omar and al-Aqsa, we call to the world’s leaders to completely dismantle their arsenals of weapons of mass destruction and restructure an economic system that causes poverty, discrimination and death. The World March for Peace and Nonviolence clamours for a more human future”.
