The Balkan WM team in Slovenia - 06.11.09

In the 10th day of the Balkan WM team we reached Ljubljana where we were more than welcomed by the students and the authorities of the Faculty of Arts and the mayor of the town as well, Mr. Zoran Janković. Although the local organizations (Association for Civil Society of Slovenia – LOM, Faculty of Arts, Peace Institute, Zavod Voluntariat ) that have organized the events of the day have been lately aware of the WM they have been pretty active and effective in their task. In fact, the endorsement and the active participation of the University was also extremely fast.
The welcoming ceremony was combined with the celebration of the 90th birthday of the University of Ljubljana and Faculty of Arts. Then place was full of students and media which were very much interested of the WM.
The dean of the Faculty of Arts, dr. Valentin Bucik, stressed the necessity to direct education to a humanist direction and the important role of education to the direction of peace. He ended his speech by wishing the University of Ljubljana and Faculty of Arts to celebrate its 100th birthday in a world without wars.
On behalf of the international delegation of the Balkan WM team, the spokesperson Tony Robinson wished on his turn happy birthday to the university and confirmed the intentions of the WM to continue after the 2nd of January in order to try to eliminate wars after the 10 years period settled before by the dyne.
The end of the ceremony found round 50 of the surrounded people marching through the heavy rain and finally creating the first human peace sign in Slovenia in the center square of Ljubljana. 
The day was ended with some music events in a place that used to be a military base and now it is an alternative cultural place where people from different styles were informed over the project of the WM.
