It was the second time that the Freigeist Festival had been organised in Berlin. It stands for peace, freedom and nonviolence. In the three days of the festival, contact was made with many different organisations and their support for the March was enlisted.
The Unite the Nation Festival took place at the Brandenburger Tor, with the World March sharing a stand with Humanity’s Team directly next to the stage. World March activists were able to make contact with many of the speakers and performers on the festival’s very diverse programme. Steffa from Humanity´s Team wrote a song for the World March and set out to enlist the support of the artists present to perform it with her at the main event in Berlin on November 7. She was able to discuss the idea with Nina Hagen, among others.
The spokesman for New Humanism, Michael Steinbach, introduced the March on the stage while the more than 50 organisations at the festival were informed about the activities taking place in November in Berlin and invited to take part.
