Ramadan futsal* tournament

The tournament of 16 teams from different associations and organisations started in Valencia On the 29^th of August. It will finish on the 13^th of September.  The organisers who have endorsed and supported the WM for a year now, have decided to consider this event as a WM activity.

The tournament is organised by the Higher Islamic Council of the Valencian Community, the Valencia Islamic Cultural Centre, the Association of Muslim youth in Valencia and the Community of Silo's Message.

During the opening event, organisers spoke of the meaning and objectives of the WM while inviting participants to support and disseminate it.  The laws of the game were read to the players with importance given to non-violent behaviour during the matches.  All physical and verbal aggression together with aggressive gestures would result in stiff penalties.

* Futsal is a variant of association football that is mainly played indoors. Its name is derived from the Portuguese futebol de salão and the Spanish fútbol sala/de salón, which can be translated as 'sole football'.  Futsal is played between two teams of five players, one of whom is the goalkeeper, and up to seven substitutes per team.
