Marching towards peace with Nobel Prize winners and Umberto Veronesi

Today, in Rome, Umberto Veronesi and Luisa Morgantini participated in the World March presentation that will reach the Italian capital on the 12th of November. The day before a delegation will participate in the World Summit for Nobel Peace Laureates in Berlin, where Silo, founder of the Humanist Movement, will present the March’s profound roots and motivations.

Today in the Peace Hall at Valentini Palace, headquarters of the Province of Rome, the World March was presented.  Among the speakers was Giorgio Schultze, European Spokesperson for the March, Emanuela Fumagalli, National Coordinator, Professor Umberto Veronesi, Luisa Morgantini, former Vice-President of the European Parliament and Enzo Cursio, from the Permanent Secretariat for the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates.

In Italy, the March counts on the sponsorship of different local institutions and 581 associations who have endorsed.  The initiatives to celebrate the start of the March on the 2nd of October are multiplying.

"During the 8th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates," said Enzo Cursio, speaking on behalf of the Permanent Secretariat of the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, "here in Rome we publicly presented the Charter for a Non-violent World.  This is a document, unanimously supported by all the signatories, that proposes the central location of mankind and the prevention of all forms of violence."  A delegation of the WM will receive this charter during the next summit that will be held on the 10th and 11th of November in Berlin (www.nobelforpeace-summits.org).

"We are trying to counteract the senseless and irrational number of wars," explained Giorgio Schultze, "with the humanity and rationality of the March.  This is why it's significant that the President of the United States, Barack Obama, has taken the decision to cancel the Missile Shield in Europe, with all the international tension and waste of economic resources that that would have implied."
