World March meets Arun Gandhi in event in The Hague, the Netherlands

A special event took place on the 22nd of May 2009 in The Hague, symbolic City of Peace, the Netherlands, organised by a joint group of NGOs working in the fields of human rights and peace building, namely: United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY), Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO), Global Human Rights Defence (GHRD) and Culture Clash 4 You (CC4U).

The event started with a ceremonial gathering at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the presence of his grandson Arun Gandhi, an endorser of the World March for Peace and Nonviolence, and the Ambassador of India, followed by a silent march to the centre of The Hague where the event concluded in an indoors programme centred on the Promotion of a Culture of Nonviolence among Youth.

After a welcome address Mr. Arun Gandhi made a speech on A Culture of Nonviolence, followed by an interactive open debate.

A team of the World March for Peace and Non-Violence participated actively in this event, promoting the World March.
