On the 2nd of october 2009 the start of the World March for Peace and Nonviolence was celebrated on Dam Square in Amsterdam, Netherlands, with a multi-cultural and multi-diverse manifestation at which participated during 5 hours hundreds of people: artist endorsers of the WM from different cultures and continents, rap, hiphop, classical, folklore dances, painters, troubadours, music bands and vocal groups, etc, organisations and public. Special highlights of the manifestation were the arrival of mini marches from different points of the city center, the reading of the speech of Rafa de la Rubia, spokesperson of the traveling Base Team of the WM, in Wellington, New-Zealand and the Hindu fire ceremony for Peace and Nonviolence. Many people wrote their messages on the Piramide for Peace and Nonviolence in many different languages and there was a continuous interaction between activity on the WM stage, activity on the square and activity near the stands of endorsing organisations.
The atmosphere was highly joyful, a true hommage to a new universal human nation to be. It was a manifestation of creating hope, a manifestation that demonstrated that a new society is possible.
The manifestation was build by all the people present who contributed with their volunteer creativity. Many artists had created special World March songs or poems and stated their reasons for endorsing actively the WM.
On the Dam square in Amsterdam the world celebrated together with people present of all the continents.
