The meeting was attended by Danielle Mitterrand and other national personalities and organisations from Abolition 2000, Citizens Action for Nuclear Disarmament, Colibri, Gandhi International and thirty other local organisations.  Mrs Mitterand recalled that "violence is a natural phenomenon but the human being is born with intelligence, endowed with reason and is therefore capable of organising actions like this March."  The March will start on the 2nd of October 2009 in New Zealand and end on the 2nd of January in Argentina, crossing 6 continents and more than 90 countries.
